About the Service

GoLloyds Overseas Remittance Service

GoLloyds is a fast, convenient and inexpensive way to send funds overseas*. Use it to electronically remit funds to pre-registered beneficiaries. Remitters simply use any bank ATM or Internet banking in Japan to transfer the funds domestically to your GoLloyds account. GoLloyds then completes the overseas remittance.

GoLloyds offers most major currencies at very competitive exchange rates. Funds received by 3:00 p.m. on a business day will be processed by us on the same day. Funds will normally arrive within one or two business days, depending on the country and beneficiary bank. Local banking practices and time zone differences may affect delivery times.

The service fee is 2,000 yen** and is not dependent on the amount you send. Yen transfers are subject to an additional charge of 0.1% of the amount sent (minimum charge of 1,500 yen).

*Please note that we are currently unable to send funds to, or to residents of, a number of countries, including:
Cuba, Libya, Iraq, Sudan, Iran, Nigeria, North Korea, Myanmar, Syria, Angola, India, Nauru, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Afghanistan.

How Does the GoLloyds Service Work?

STEP 1
Register Free Online...
To become a GoLloyds customer all you have to do is fill in our brief online application form.

Having completed the application form a PDF document will be created. Print this off, sign and send in with copies of two of the relevant Identification documents.
  • Alien Registration card
  • Passport
  • Japanese driving license
STEP 2
Receive your Welcome Pack...
Once we have received your completed application form we will send you a GoLloyds welcome pack. This will include your B-link number and other useful information that will allow you to begin remitting overseas.

STEP 3
Make an ATM Transfer...
Once registered as a GoLloyds customer, simply go to your local bank ATM and make a furikomi transfer from you Japanese domestic bank account to your GoLloyds account.

Alternatively if you are in the Tokyo area you can visit our branch and make a transfer in cash.

STEP 4
GoLloyds does the rest!
Upon receipt of your Yen funds, GoLloyds applies a flat-rate ¥2,000** handling fee, converts the funds into the specified currency at that day’s exchange rate and then sends them to your pre-registered beneficiary via telegraphic transfer.

GoLloyds will send you an advice of transfer to inform you of the amount sent, the exchange rate applied, and the beneficiary account details. This should be retained for your records.

**As with any international remittance, intermediary banks will deduct a fee. A list of these charges can be viewed here. In addition, beneficiary banks in some countries may also levy a charge.
